An Opus Clip alternative that doesn’t run on a subscription
Zypherius cuts long video into vertical clips the same way: it transcribes the whole recording, scores the moments, crops to the speaker and burns word-by-word subtitles. The difference is what happens at checkout. You buy credits once, they never expire, and nothing you export carries a watermark.
New accounts get 10 credits, which is exactly one clip job. No card, no trial countdown.
The short answer. Opus Clip is a subscription product — the free tier watermarks exports and deletes clips after three days, and removing the watermark starts at $15 a month. Zypherius sells credits instead: EUR 5 buys 100 credits, one clip job costs 10 credits regardless of how long the source video is, credits never expire, and no export is ever watermarked. If you publish a few videos a month, that is the whole argument.

When Opus Clip is the better buy
A comparison page that finds nothing good in the competitor is a sales page, not a comparison. Three cases where Opus Clip is the right tool and we are not:
- You publish daily and want the tool to post for you. Their paid plans connect social accounts, schedule and publish. Zypherius gives you the file; the posting is yours.
- You work in a team or need an API. Team seats, shared workspaces and API access exist there and do not exist here.
- You need dubbing or an editorial round-trip into Premiere or DaVinci. Both are on their Pro plan. We render finished MP4s, not project files.
The case for Zypherius is narrower and sharper: you record long-form, you want clips that look right, and you do not want a subscription running in the background between the episodes you actually publish.
What the cut actually does
Every item here runs on a normal 10-credit job. Nothing is reserved for a higher tier.
Music placed on the beat
The bed is mixed under the voice with sidechain ducking, and cutaway inserts snap to the beat grid rather than landing mid-bar.
The speaker stays in frame
Face tracking drives the 9:16 crop, so a person who moves around the shot is not cropped out of their own clip.
Word-by-word subtitles you can fix
Subtitles follow the voice in the language actually spoken. Retype a misheard word and re-render for free — the timings stay in sync.
AI B-roll and reaction inserts
Where a talking head alone would lose the viewer, the director drops in a generated still or a short cutaway — the voice keeps running underneath.
Silence and filler removed
Dead air and filler words are cut before rendering, and loudness is normalised to −14 LUFS so the clip does not arrive quieter than everything else in the feed.
What it costs in practice
Credits are the only unit. A clip job costs 10 credits when it returns one or two clips and 15 credits when it returns three or more. Length does not enter the calculation — a 58-minute interview and a 6-minute demo are billed the same.
- EUR 5 — 100 credits. Ten two-clip jobs, or six jobs of four clips each.
- EUR 15 — 350 credits. Thirty-five two-clip jobs.
- EUR 35 — 900 credits. Ninety two-clip jobs.
Re-rendering a clip you have already paid for — fixing a word, cutting a pause, changing the hook line — costs nothing. The same wallet also pays for the AI chat and the image tools in the account, so nothing sits unused.

Upload the recording
MP4, MOV, AVI, WEBM, MKV or M4V, up to 500 MB and up to 60 minutes. Tell it what the video is for in one line, or leave that empty.
The director reads the whole thing
Transcription, audio-energy analysis, then a pass that picks the moments that hold attention and sets pacing, subtitle style and length for each clip.
Fix a word, then download
Clips arrive with Hook Scores. Open one, retype anything the transcriber misheard, drop a pause, re-render at no cost, download the MP4.
Questions people ask before switching
Does Zypherius put a watermark on exported clips?
No. The renderer draws subtitles, hook text and your own captions, and nothing else. There is no branding overlay on any tier, including the credits you get for free at signup.
Is there a monthly subscription?
No. You buy credits once: 100 credits for EUR 5, 350 for EUR 15, 900 for EUR 35. Credits do not expire and nothing recurs. If you skip three months, you lose nothing.
How much does one clip job cost?
10 credits for a job that returns up to two clips, 15 credits for three or more. The price does not change with the length of the source video, so a 60-minute podcast costs the same as a 5-minute talking head.
What can I upload?
MP4, MOV, AVI, WEBM, MKV and M4V files up to 500 MB and up to 60 minutes long. Clips come out at 1080p in 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9.
How long are finished clips kept?
Seven days. Download them when they are ready. After seven days the file is deleted and the interface says the clip expired instead of handing you a broken download.
Which languages do the subtitles support?
The transcriber detects the spoken language and writes subtitles in it. Hooks, titles and captions are written in the same language as the speech and never translated into English behind your back. The interface itself is English.
Can I import straight from a YouTube link?
Not today — you upload the file. If your workflow depends on pulling from a channel automatically, Opus Clip does that and we do not.
